Education & Research

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a specialization in Applied Behavior Analysis from Florida International University and completed my Master’s in Exceptional Student Education (ESE) at the University of West Florida, specializing in ABA. My research has focused on developing individualized behavior strategies to support children at home, in school, and in the community by creating an individualized behavior plan that fosters their needs.

Professional Experience

Throughout my career, I have worked with a diverse range of individuals, from toddlers to young adults, addressing both developmental impairments and challenging behaviors. I have provided ABA therapy in schools, homes, shelters, and clinical settings, developing comprehensive behavior intervention plans, conducting functional behavior assessments, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure effective support for every child.

One of the biggest concerns I hear from parents is their hope for their child to communicate, become independent, and confidently navigate life. As a mother myself, I deeply understand this goal. My mission as a BCBA and Licensed Behavior Analyst is to equip children with the tools they need to develop independence, strengthen communication skills, and lead fulfilling lives.

My Approach to ABA Therapy

I believe that growth happens in a supportive, engaging environment. My approach to ABA therapy is evidence-based, individualized, and family-centered, with a focus on:
✔️ Positive reinforcement to encourage meaningful behavior changes
✔️ Customized interventions tailored to each child's unique needs
✔️ Caregiver training to support learning beyond therapy sessions
✔️ Collaboration with schools and healthcare professionals for consistency across environments
✔️ Empowering children with social, communication, and daily living skills

My Personal Journey into ABA

My journey into Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is deeply personal. Initially, I intended to pursue a career in psychology, but everything changed when my son, Max, was diagnosed with ADHD. As a mother of a child with special needs, I experienced firsthand the challenges that come with navigating the education system. During Pre-K and Kindergarten, I frequently received notes from his teachers about his behavior, and in Kindergarten, the school even suggested that I transfer him to another institution. I understand the frustration, uncertainty, and emotional toll this process can take on families, which is why I am so passionate about helping others navigate it more smoothly.

While taking my psychology courses, I enrolled in an ABA therapy class, not knowing how much it would impact my life. As I learned about ABA strategies, I began applying them at home—and the results were life-changing. Seeing the progress in my own son sparked a deep commitment in me to help other families facing similar challenges. That’s when I decided to dedicate my career to supporting children and empowering parents.

Today, Max is a high school sophomore with a passion for politics, history, geography, science, and, of course, video games. His journey continues to inspire me every day, reinforcing my belief in the transformative power of ABA therapy.

Beyond My Work

Outside of my professional life, I love exploring new restaurants, traveling, spending time with my family, and visiting my hometown of Rio de Janeiro. Whether I’m at the beach, a park, or in a new city, I value experiences that bring balance and joy to my life.
