Social Group Therapy Program

At Waves Behavior Therapy, we recognize that social skills are essential for building friendships, navigating relationships, and succeeding in school and beyond. Our Social Group Therapy Program is designed to help children develop meaningful connections, effective communication skills, and confidence in social interactions.

Who is This Program For?

Our Social Group Therapy Program is ideal for children who:
✅ Struggle with making or maintaining friendships
✅ Have difficulty with turn-taking, sharing, or cooperation
✅ Experience anxiety in social situations
✅ Have challenges with reading social cues and body language
✅ Need help expressing emotions appropriately
✅ Would benefit from structured, guided social interactions

How Does the Program Work?

Our BCBA-led social groups provide a structured, supportive environment where children can practice and strengthen social skills through interactive activities, role-playing, and real-life scenarios. We use Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques to reinforce positive social behaviors, helping children gain confidence and feel more comfortable in social settings.

Key components of our Social Group Therapy Program include:

✔️ Building Conversation Skills: Teaching children how to initiate, maintain, and appropriately end conversations
✔️ Understanding Social Cues: Helping children recognize and respond to facial expressions, tone of voice, and body language
✔️ Turn-Taking & Cooperation: Encouraging sharing, waiting, and playing cooperatively with peers
✔️ Conflict Resolution: Teaching strategies for problem-solving and handling disagreements in a positive way
✔️ Emotional Regulation: Supporting children in expressing feelings appropriately and managing frustration in social situations
✔️ Confidence & Self-Esteem: Helping children develop social independence and build positive peer relationships

Why Choose Waves Behavior Therapy?

Unlike traditional social skills training, our Social Group Therapy Program is interactive, engaging, and tailored to each child's needs. Sessions are led by licensed behavior analysts (BCBAs) who carefully match children with peers of similar age and skill level to ensure the best learning experience.

We also provide parent training and strategies to help reinforce social skills at home, school, and in the community. Our goal is to help children feel more comfortable in social situations, form lasting friendships, and develop the confidence to engage with others effectively.
